Even though I am told I have a powerful presence in front of an audience, I don't really enjoy being the center of attention. I guess being passionate is like that! When I am captured by the passion of my topic or helping my students connect with their own passion, I am powerful and confident ... But when I am put in a position that I am the center of attention at a social gathering, I tend to be rather shy. That was up until now! I was encouraged by a couple of friends to have a book launch party to honor the release of Match Meets the Metapysical. I succumbed to their offer to host and coordinate the gathering. I am so glad that I did! On the eve of the book launch, surrounded by friends, family, mentors, supporters and students as well as several of my book characters, contributors and my editor, I quickly realized that gathering in celebration is an important part of achieving a goal ... not only for me, but for everyone involved. I am profoundly grateful and humbled to share the excitement of my book launch with the many people who have supported me along the way. The evening was full of great food, excitement, a mix of emotions, powerful conversations, tears of joy, amazing energy, lots of books to sign and a wonderful atmosphere of celebration of our accomplishment. It was also an opportunity to fully acknowledge that my effort to share the personal story of my intuitive and psychic abilities and how I learned to trust and use them to create an amazing life would certainly serve others in doing the same! Below are a few of my favorite shots! Special thanks to MaryJane Weigert Beatie for capturing the event in pictures, Su Stacey for coordinating the event, Michael and Penny Hathaway for hosting the event and to Mikalya Cerney for helping me with all the details so I could bask in the amazing energy of the evening! And if the book launch party wasn't already amazing enough ... the next day, Match Meets the Metaphysical hit the Amazon Best Seller list ... sharing the Amazon Top 10 Best Seller page with my all time favorite inspirational book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Such an honor! I am gearing up for an exciting week and would love for you to join me in the excitement! My first novel launches on Amazon on Wednesday, June 12th! As I've shared, I set the goal to write a book at my first Jack Canfield event in August of 2010 with no idea what I would write about. In the fall of 2011, a pretty profound metaphysical experience with a friend and my neighbor launched me into 3 weeks of non-stop writing, which ultimately became the foundation of my new novel. I hope you will join me for Julia's transformational journey through challenges, changes, uncertainty and toward her true essence ... and I hope you will also share the link with friends! The link is http://www.matchmeetsthemetaphysical.com Available soon!!! My interview with Mark, the real life medium who, through a shared metaphsycial experience, prompted me to write the book In this casual conversation we each share our perspectives on how a simple cup of tea turned into an event that has transformed the lives of many. Check back here to listen to the interview, which I hope to have ready within the next week or two. The process of writing this book has led me to countless conversations with people of all ages, coming forth to ask me questions and share their own experiences and sometimes their fear, apprehension and skepticism about all things metaphysical. A few people have even asked me to coach them through their experiences and questions and help them determine how to develop and use their skills to better serve themselves and others. Thus a new book project is in the works! I'll be interviewing several psychics and asking them to share about their own psychic development as well as their advice about how to develop and use psychic abilities in day to day life. I am also interested in stories ... stories of metaphysical experiences, encounters, intuitive flashes, etc. and how they have helped to change the course of life in a positive way. If you or someone you know would like to share a story for potential inclusion in the book, please email me at trisharx@aol.com. Confidentiality will be maintained and written permission to share your story will be obtained prior to being published. In light of my fascination with the power of the subconscious mind and the need for people to be more aware of how it plays out in their lives, I published my first audio course, At the Waterline: Harnessing the Power of the Subconscious Mind. Check it out and feel free to share ... this is a great way to begin changing your life with conscious and subconscious intention! And finally, I'm gearing up for another week in the training room with Jack Canfield and the 2013 Train the Trainer class. Looking forward to reconnecting with Jack, the Assisting Team and participants for another transformational week! Stay tuned for pearls and blog posts about this Long Beach experience! A Mastermind is a group of committed and motivated individuals who meet regularly, usually monthly or twice monthly, in person or by phone to support each other in manifesting personal and professional success. They participate by sharing stories, resources, ideas and information with group members to support the transformative growth and expand the potential of each individual. They go to the group for help with goals, projects, perspective, specific tasks, networking contacts, etc.
The Mastermind concept was popularized by Napoleon Hill, the author of Think and Grow Rich. He said: No two minds ever come together without a third invisible force, which may be likened to a “third mind.” When a group of individual minds are coordinated and function in harmony, the increased energy created through that alliance becomes available to every individual in the group. The result is that the group far exceeds the insight, perspective and resources of each individual. Masterminding is a fun way to stay motivated, get feedback and be held accountable while working on your goals and manifesting your dreams. I've been part of Mastermind groups since first attending Breakthrough to Success with Jack Canfield in 2010. My current group meets twice a month via conference call. It has been a truly an amazing experience and literally leveled up my efforts and progress overnight and continues to do so todayt! The Mastermind process has helped me with all aspects of my speaking and coaching business and has been an invaluable "go to" resource for questions about the writing, publishing and book promotion process. With their feedback, loving support and encouragement through the times when my fear kicked in and could have stopped me in my tracks, I am pleased and excited to announce that I will launch my first book on Amazon.com on June 12! My Mastermind Group also supports me with personal issues and limiting beliefs that have the potential to block and even sabotage my professional progress ... often times blocks that I wasn't able to see for myself! My favorite part of the process is that by simply asking for help with a particular project or issue, I get the benefit of six amazing brains coming together on my behalf and in the presence of divine guidance to support me in finding solutions and determining next steps toward my goals while inspiring me and holding me accountable to take action. Simply awesome! I believe so much in the value of the Mastermind process that I recently incorporated into my 12 week Pathways to Success class. The results were astounding! As a result, I am in the process of forming facilitated Mastermind Groups to help people connect and support each other in reaching their goals and achieving their personal definition of success. Click here to get more information about joining one of these powerful Mastermind groups! I just got the final proof of my book in the mail! The book launch is well under way and set to go live on June 12th! I am beyond excited ... and a little bit scared! Where does that fear come from? Despite all the time, energy and effort I've spent learning how to break through and push fear aside, out of nowhere it still creeps in every once in awhile. Fear of failure? Fear of success? Fear of something I can't even put into words sometimes? It doesn't really matter ... it is what it is. And I must walk through it to get to the other side. It's part of the human experience that comes along with the joy, I suppose. All I can do is do my best to stay grounded, stay connected to my heart and continue to take the next right step! In August of 2010, I sat in Jack Canfield's Breakthrough to Success workshop and set a goal to write a book. I had no idea what it would be about; however deep down inside I knew I had a book in me. Maybe more than one. Perhaps a series. I let the ideas flow but it wasn't until a year later that the inspiration for my first book came. It happened while I was sharing a cup of tea with my neighbors and a young woman I've been pretty connected to since she was 12 years old. The experience was profound and from there the story unfolded. It came over me like a wave and woke me up many a night to write the next chapter or with a new idea for the cover design. Over a three week period, the words flowed and the book wrote me. The wrting part was easy. The hard part was taking the steps necessary to publish the book. And the hardest part ... summoning up the courage to share the story. It's a story of struggle, romance and transformation with a paranormal twist that will intrigue believers and skeptics alike. Through the process, I have learned alot about myself, my fears, my blocks, my passion and my purpose. I have developed profound connections with amazing people and have had some mystically wonderful experiences. And, yes, I've been afraid. It is my hope that the story touches you, helps you transcend fear, opens you up to possibilities and somehow supports and inspires you to be the best you can be! We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. 'If you can dream it, you can do it". In August, 2010, I was sitting in the training room at Jack Canfield's Breakthrough to Success live event working on goal setting. I had participated in several days of activities, exercises, meditation and processes designed to help participants break through subconscious blocks and fears that kept us from success and creating the life of our dreams. The process was arduous and playing full out was difficult, but I was committed to the process that Jack had so expertly laid out for us. And I had certainly experienced a couple of breakthroughs over the week! Jack was asking us to level up our goal setting and write what he calls a Breakthrough Goal. Something that would quantum leap our life, our success, our purpose, our contribution to the planet. I always knew I had a book in me, and I had always enjoyed writing, but I had never written any more than journal entries, professional articles, emails and letters to friends. Before I had time for my inner critic to convince me otherwise, I wrote my breakthrough goal in the format Jack suggested: "I am a bestselling author by 7/1/13 at 5pm." I had no idea what I would write. I had no idea how I would find the time in my schedule to figure it out. But, as Jack had taught me, I turned off the voice of fear and doubt, closed my eyes and visualized my life as a best selling author and practiced believing that my goal was possible for me. Today I am sitting in my living room holding the final proof of my book in my hands. I am doing the final read through before the book goes to print. The book launch plan is in process and the launch date will be announced shortly. The book came to me by divine inspiration through an amazing real life event that sparked me to share my story of transformation in written form. Once the process began, the words flowed to me and through me. I literally wrote it in 3 weeks. I would wake up in the middle of the night with another chapter already written. Soon it was complete. My editor found me. The cover design came through divine synchronicity. The process has certainly been a long one, but in many ways it has been effortless. Over the past few years I have connected with so many amazing people who stand ready to help me reach my breakthrough goal ...most likely by the date I set back in 2010! This is not about me ... this is about all of us! If we can dream it, we can do it. If we believe it's possible, whatever "it" is, the Universe will conspire to help us accomplish whatever we want in life. What do you want to accomplish in your life? What is your dream? What is your breakthrough goal? Please share it with me below. Writing it down, giving it a voice, sharing it makes it so much more powerful! It also prompts the Universe to begin conspiring on our behalf. And I must share that I am always excited to hear about people's dreams and even more excited to do whatever I can to help them come true! Please share in my excitement by visiting http:www.matchmeetsthemetaphysical.com for more details on my book launch. You can also see the book trailer on youtube here. Here is a simple explanation of the Law of Attraction outlined by Jack Canfield, star in the movie The Secret and author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series and the Success Principles: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be.
1) Decide what you want. 2) Believe you can have it. Believe you deserve it and believe it’s possible for you. 3) Close your eyes every day for several minutes, and visualize having what you already want, feeling the feelings of already having it. 4) Come out of that and focus on what you’re grateful for already, and really enjoy it. 5) Then go into your day and release it to the Universe and trust that the Universe will figure out how to manifest it. It's really quite simple; however many of us get stuck along the way. Perhaps we are not clear about exactly what we want. To get clear, fill in the details ... colors, sounds, qualities, characteristics. Be as clear and specific about what you want and when you want it by. Always add the phrase "or something better" just in case the Universe has something even greater than you can imagine in store. And of course, don't be afraid to think big. Think of the Universe as a huge, abundant source of possibilities. Sort of like a unlimited catalog where everything and anything is possible. Once we get clear about what we want, many of us get stuck by not really believing that whatever it is we want is possible for us. Call it a subconscious block or a limiting belief; it doesn't really matter what terminology we use. The bottom line is that the block or belief needs to be cleared at the subconscious level in order for the Universe to fill our order. The good news is there are many tools and techniques we can use to clear blocks and reframe limiting beliefs! The exclamation point is there because I get so excited when I am working with clients on clearing and releasing. That's where the magic starts to happen! I get especially excited when I am working with teens and young adults, helping them to clear beliefs before they get hardwired into their brain and develop into limited thinking. The next step is visualizing, which is lots of fun and extremely powerful. I could write a book on this topic alone, but I'll leave you with this thought. Visualizing to activate the Law of Attraction is like the adult version of daydreaming ... like creating a supercharged wish list for the Universe. Have fun with the power and magic that lies within your imagination! It goes without saying that gratitude is one of the highest vibrational states we, as human beings, can elicit. The Law of Attraction is all about creating an energetic vibration so our subconscious mind can work with the Universe to manifest it. For the past four years, I've been working with Jack Canfield's Success Principles to fully activate the Law of Attraction in my life and I love the results The Universe continues to deliver! Even more than the magic I've experienced in my own life, I love teaching the principles to others to help them clear blocks, breakthrough old beliefs and move on to creating the life of their dreams! Spring signifies transition, new beginnings, more sunlight, more energy, more creativity!
This winter has been busy for me. Winters always are my busiest season. I am an avid skier and spend most of my winter days on skis either actively pursuing my passion or teaching it to others while continuing the work I do with teens and young adults. This winter I decided to pursue my next level of certification with the Professional Ski Instructors Association and will doing my on snow skiing exam this coming week. This is a pretty intense process and has added lots of on snow training clinics to my already busy schedule, however the end result will open up new doors that will allow me to pursue my passions on a deeper and more fun and profound level. Over the winter I spent a week in training room with Jack Canfield and the new Train the Trainer 2013 class in Long Beach, California. What an honor to serve on Jack's team and support him as he develops the next group of human potential coaches, trainers and leaders from around the globe! I was so excited about the Success Principles work that I began teaching a 12 week class titled New Year, New You: 12 Weeks to Passion, Purpose & Prosperity in February. The class is going well and providing particpants with lots of valuable information, tips, tools and techniques to help them break through blocks and pave the way to a life of passion, purpose and success. This project will certainly lead to additional live and online events, so stay tuned for announcements and sign up here to get on the mailing list. I recently received the proof copy of my book, Match Meets the Metaphysical: A Transformational Journey to Light and Love, from the publisher! Just yesterday I got the format edit back from Penny, my editor. It's so exciting to be just around the corner from having my first book available on Amazon.com! Follow me on facebook or twitter for announcements, launch dates and pre-ordering information! Yes, I've been busy, but the best part of it all is that I truly love everything I am doing! I am so grateful to be living my passion and moving closer and closer to realizing my dreams ... all while living each day joyfully present in each moment. Don't get me wrong ... life is not perfect! There never seems to be enough time in the day for all I'd like to accomplish and there are people and circumstances in my life that provide me with challenges that lead to opportunities for me to either get stuck in or grow through. I haven't had time to write a blog post for several months and have not kept up with some of the day to day aspects of building my business. I still often think about a heart breaking situation that caused me great deal of stress. I have several projects that got started and still wait in the pile on my desk for me to take the next step. I have email and voicemail messages that I can't seem to get to and movies and books that are still on my list to see and read. Nobody ever said life would be easy all the time. In the midst of it all, I am grateful, happy and peacefully enjoying my life. I'm winding down from winter, resetting my priorities and preparing to gear up for a productive spring while I continue to strive to maintain balance while creating the life of my dreams! I hope you are right there with me on the balance beam. Happy Spring! “There are two great days in a person’s life; the day we were born and the day we discover why.” ~William Barclay
Did you ever have a day that was chock full of activity; chores to do, tasks to complete, people to connect with, calls to make, emails to return, not to mention the time and effort involved in the basics of life like getting up and ready in the morning, eating, and whatever it is we do to support ourselves. By the time the day was done, you were exhausted and wondered what you had really accomplished in all the “busy-ness”. Perhaps you even heard yourself asking, “What am I doing?” or “Why am I doing this?” or “What’s the point of it all?” Imagine, for a minute, a life in which every action, interaction and activity was for a purpose. More specifically, what if each and every day of your life was by design and according to your purpose for being on the planet? Imagine that your purpose took into consideration your skills, talents, desires, dreams and preferences and provided you with a foundation for all your actions and the fuel to keep moving towards its fulfillment? The reality is that most people don’t slow down long enough to think about what they’re here to do, what they’re passionate about, what makes their life worth living or what they want to accomplish in life. Too often, by the time kids get into school, their hopes and dreams are pushed aside and have been reduced to ideas like, “that’s not possible” or “that’s just crazy” or “get your head out of the clouds”! And so we do. We put aside the clues to our passion and purpose and quickly find ourselves filling up our days with tasks and chores and activities that have little meaning or connection to our purpose. The older we get and the more responsibilities we have, the more our life becomes about making a living versus truly living our lives. That is a depressing thought, but I’m not going there today. It’s spring! A time for rejuvenation, new beginnings, fresh starts and new growth! So take a few minutes right now to begin to explore your purpose for being here in this life. This may sound huge … perhaps too big to tackle in just a few minutes, but I encourage you to start the process right now. I further encourage you to begin to shift the way you start your days. Spend a couple of minutes each morning thinking about your purpose. Do it again at night as you fall asleep. Your purpose doesn’t have to be perfect, nor does it have to be huge … just start where you are and look within and look forward. I had an amazing experience two years ago when I turned down the volume and decreased the speed of my life for a bit and began to explore my reason for being on the planet. At the time I was busy but I was bored, unhappy, unfulfilled and frustrated! My first attempts to uncover my purpose felt awkward and confusing, but quickly, I felt a shift in my energy which continues to expand today! My purpose was fuzzy at first. It took a lot of tweaking to get clear… and I’ll bet I’ll tweak it yet again as I learn and change and grow. Today, my purpose is part of my daily routine. I am happier, more energetic, more focused and more successful than I have ever been. I have made a lot of changes in my life now that I am living on purpose … new people, new work, new attitudes, new mindset. Taking some time to explore my life purpose has been the most important thing I have done to improve my life and put me on an exciting and meaningful path toward reaching my goals and fulfilling my dreams. If you're ready to start your journey toward passion, purpose and prosperity, join me for this live event starting on January 28, 2013! http://www.trishajacobson.com/new-year-new-you-live-event.html Using feedback to our advantage is one of Jack Canfield's most important lessons. In his trainings he demonstrates the power of feedback using several exercises and demonstrations to emphasize it's value.
I totally get it, but I know I've been resistant about asking for and receiving feedback ... up until now. As you may know, I wrote a book. It's a fiction novel called Match Meets the Metaphysical: A Transformational Journey to Light and Love. It is now with the editor going through the final editing stage and will soon be sent to the publisher. I anticipate a late fall release. Stay tuned for more details Jack, author of the Chicken Soup of the Soul series, is a many times best selling author and considered an expert in the field. One of his biggest suggestions was that I send my manuscript out to 6-8 reviewers to get feedback. He is my teacher and mentor and I have made a commitment to do what he suggests I do. So I put my manuscript on a flashdrive, went to Staples and had them print and bind eight copies. I went to the post office and got postage paid envelopes and retrun envelopes. I came home, made up a reviewer feedback form that a member of my Mastermind group shared with me. I addressed the envelopes to the people who agreed to be reviewers and packaged them up and placed them on the table by the door where I put outgoing mail, my car keys and everything else that is heading with me when I leave my house. The envelopes sat there for over two weeks! It was literally as if I didn't even see them sitting there next to my keys. Finally I grabbed them on my way out one day, got distracted and while I was driving into town, I realized that I had left them behind. Hmmmm ... clearly there was something up with that ... some resistance that was holding me back. I did what I've learned to do when that happens. I talked about it. I went to my Mastermind group, several members are published authors, and asked them for help. We laughed as they shared their stories of fear, resistance, of going public with their stories. And finally, they did what they always do. They asked how they could help me get over my fear and resistance of receiving feedback, which was hiding my fear of failure and my fear of success. The day after the call, as promised, I mailed out the manuscripts and feedback forms. I've gotten lots of feedback ... the great, the not so great and some amazing suggestions for improvement and changes. From the feedback I now have a wonderful new introduction, an appendix I hadn't even thought of and a more clear idea of who my target audience is and who my target audience is not. From the feedback, I also got insight into the cover design and an idea for a couple of classes that I will be developing from the content of my book and the lessons I've learned and skills I've developed through my experience. I took the not so positive feedback and used it in a constructive way. Instead of taking it personally, I asked for more feedback to help me decide what action to take and what changes to make. It helped me tune into and trust my gut, which always leads me in a positive direction. Now I am a feedback junkie ... and much more aware of how my fear of success show up! It's been awhile since I've posted to my blog. I got overwhelmed with the business of wrapping up the school year, running the clinic, another week of Train the Trainer with Jack Canfield in Newport Beach, another training trip to Los Angeles, book editing and publishing deadlines ... the list goes on and on. Before I knew it it was July and I realized that I had never stopped to take some time off. So when I was faced with the choice of more writing or some time to rest and rejuvenate, I choose to take some to be in that inbetween place ... that place of transition where intentional quiet and contemplation balanced with healthy outdoor activity seems to serve me well. I am lucky to live in a beautiful place, a vacation desitination for many, so it's easy to find beautiful places to relax, recreate and rejuvenate. Here's a photo log of where I've been ... from my desk trying to negotiate space with my furry friends Leah and Sylvester, to Newport Beach with Jack, to the clinic, hanging out with the loons on Crystal Lake, watching the sunset over the Bay, to hiking along the ridge line overlooking the Great Gulf Wilderness from the summit of Mount Washington or simply hanging out in the garden with Annie and Luna. It's been a nice summer so far, but it took me some time to remember to practice what I preach I implement Jack's time management system of focus days and planning days and fun days with nothing work related for a full 24 hours. I love this system, when I remember to use it. I love the sense of accomplishment, the personal freedom and the enhanced productivity it offers. This human experience is a never ending transformational journey that is never quite complete ... always learning, always growing, always remembering, always adjusting, always reprioritizing. My plan is to get back into the habit of posting on a regular basis and keeping you up to date on my latest projects, perspectives and pursuits. I hope you are enjoying your summer and remembering to take time out to have fun, rest, rejuvenate and reconnect to your passion, purpose and the essence of who you are! |
