Here is a summary of the Law of Attraction as outlined by my teacher and mentor, Jack Canfield, author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series and The Success Principles:
Decide what you want. Believe you can have it. Believe you deserve it and believe it's possible for you. Visualize already having what you want, feeling the feelings of already having it. Come out of that and focus on what you're grateful for already, and really enjoy it. Go into your day and release it to the Universe and trust that the Universe will figure out how to manifest it. And I'll add, when you get an intuitive hit that suggests inspired action ... go with it and watch the miracles unfold! I'm planning to teach a class on the practical application of the Law of Attraction the way Jack taught it to me. The goal of the class will be to identify exactly what you want, practice the steps to create it and provided some specific techniques to help release liming beliefs that block progress on your path to success. Email me if you're interested in the details! I've recently been inspired to create a blog series. The inspiration comes on the heels of several conversations I've had with 18 to 20-something year old young adults who are living unfulfilled lives and not really sure what to do about it. The vision is a series of posts targeed to young adults, but which adults in transition will also find beneficial.
The series is based on the question, "What would my life be like if I ...?" With each post I will fill in the " ..." part by introducing a principle of success, followed by a simple activity, action step or tips that have the potential to cause a shift in your life, uplevel your work, improve your relationships, discover new income streams, clarify your purpose, dream and vision and help you discover your reason for being on the planet! I'll post about 3 times a week for the next 8 weeks. My guess is that if you follow along, you will notice a shift in your thinking, acting and being as well as the results you are experiencing in your life! So let's get started! What Would My Life Be Like If I ... Take 100% responsibility for for my life with E + R = O ? Jim Rohn says, “You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself.” Are you happy with your life? Your work? Your relationships? Your financial situation? Your living environment? Most of us have some things about our life that we’re not happy with. Often we fall into the trap of blaming external causes for why we’re not happy and successful. I am surrounded by adults who aren’t satisfied with their jobs while blaming the economy for forcing them to stay, or their bosses for their work environment when, in fact, they are choosing to stay and aren’t doing anything to make their work environment more pleasant. Many women I know aren’t happy in their relationships, yet would rather blame their partners for their unhappiness then take action to change what needs to be changed. I work with teenagers around pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease (STD) prevention, substance use and academic success. Teens have blamed the clinic for buying a "bad" kind of condoms, the condom company for making a cheap product or their partner for not using them when they get news of an unintended pregnancy or for giving them an STD. One teen even blamed her situation on her parents, stating that they wouldn’t let her go on birth control so that’s why she got pregnant. I once had a student tell me it was my fault he couldn’t graduate despite the fact that he chose to reject every opportunity his teachers and I (the school principal) gave him to make up his assignments and missed classes. Jack Canfield, author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series and The Success Principles, refers to blaming and complaining as “having a reference point of something we prefer that we are not willing to risk creating”. He goes on to suggest we consider the following formula: E + R = O E stands for all the “Events” in our lives. R stands for our “Responses” to those events. O stands for the “ Outcomes” we experience. He teaches that the outcomes we are experiencing in our lives are the result of our responses to the events that are occurring. He further suggests that we don’t have control over the circumstances and events that show up in our lives, nor can we control the behavior of the people in our lives. For example, we can’t control our bosses, our spouses, and the economy. However, we do have control over ourselves and the thoughts and choices we make and the actions we take in response to the events. In fact, our “R’s” are really the only thing we can control. Okay, so let’s be honest, taking 100% responsibility for everything in our lives can be difficult and feel overwhelming, especially to start. So how about taking 5% more responsibility to start? Activity 1) Get pen and paper or power up your laptop and complete each of the following statements: “If I were to take 5% more responsibility for my life and well-being, I would …” “If I were to take 5% more responsibility for living my passion, I would … “ “If I were to take 5% more responsibility for the attainment of my goals, I would …” “If I would take 5% more responsibility for the success of my relationships, I would …” 2) For each statement, list one action step you can take in the next week towards taking 5% more responsibility. 3) On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are you to follow through with the listed action? If your ranking is below 8, consider that there may be something getting in your way that needs further exploration. If you really want to make lasting changes, improve your self-esteem, explore your life purpose and increase success in your life, hiring a coach, getting an accountability partner or partiipating in a coaching group are all great ways to jumpstart your process, remove the blocks that have been standing in your way on your road to success and move into action! I am sometimes overwhelmed with promotional emails marketing products and services that tell me I "must take action today"! I recently spent some time unsubscribing from a bunch of lists that I've accumulated over the last year or so.
However today I received one from Dr. Joe Vitale that caught my eye and prompted me to take immediate action. The email intrigued me ... 7 Steps to Get Clear on your way to attracting whatever you want ... I entered my email address, got another cup of coffee and settled in to his content. You see, I have a dream. It is a big dream and it will be my legacy. My dream, at one time, felt completely out of reach. My dream is to have a respite center for teens that is based on the Success Principles outlined by Jack Canfield, author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. On the way to that dream, I plan to bring the success principles to teens and young adults across the country through school based and online programs. In case you're not familiar with the Law of Attraction, let me take a minute and share how I got connected with it. Several years ago, I was at a friend's house. She asked me if I would watch a movied with her. We were just hanging out with no particular plan. I agreed. She got up and popped the DVD "The Secret" into her player. I became intrigued with the Law of Attraction and began to explore the concept. Reflecting back on my life, I could see where I had manifested some really cool things ...and some not so cool things. From that day on I chose to learn more about conscious, intentional manifesting using the Law of Attraction. Over the past two years, with lots of practice and some great coaching from a manifesting master, I've manifested some amazing things that are in line with my passion and purpose. Mostly in the form of opportunity and sponsorship, I manifested the finances to support me in participating in Jack's Breakthrough to Success event as well as working closely with Jack in his year long 2012 Train the Trainer mentoring program. The results have been phenomenal and my dream is beginning to unfold in ways I never could have imagined! I've gotten so good at manifesting that I'm able to manifest almost instantly. A couple of days ago, I literally manifested an illness with the thought that I was tired and desperately needed a break. Yesterday I literally manifested a free dinner when in the momentI had no access to cash. When it happened, I was struck by how easy and how instantly I got results. It was witnessed by a colleague who further validated the miracle that had just happened. If only to take that ability and apply it to my bigger goals and my ultimate dream. But that would take some clearing as I still have some blocks I am dealing with. We all do! And clearing those blocks is certainly a process. So that's why this morning, when I saw Dr. Joe Vitale's email offer for a free video series outlining 7 Steps to Get Clear on your way to attracting whatever you want, I opted in! The content is well worth typing in your email address for. There is an optional opt in for his miracles coaching program that you can bypass easily. Don't let that stop you from listening! I strongly encourage you to go through the short video series. It's brilliant ... simple, easy to understand and will provide you with an opportunity to incorporate each of the steps along the way to manifesting whatever it is that you dream about! Enjoy ... and feel free to leave your feedback here! I'm off to visualize sharing a cup of tea with a group of teens on the sunny deck of my respite center while we talk about creating the life of their dreams! Coaching Yourself to Success in 2012: 3 Mistakes to Avoid on the Road to Living Your Purpose12/14/2011 _Mistake #1: Not being clear about exactly what you want. "The indispensible first step to getting what you want out of life is this: decide what you want." ~Ben Stein What to do instead! How about starting 2012 by clarifying your life purpose? Click here for The Life Purpose Exercise to help you get clear about your purpose. Once you have it, all the goals you create, decisions that you make and actions that you take will ideally reflect your purpose for being on the planet! Mistake #2: Surrounding yourself with negativity. "You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." ~Jim Rohn What to do instead! Try this to help you increase your awareness of the people in your life. List those people you spend the most time with ... family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, people in your civic organizations, etc. Once you have your list, place a + sign next to the the people who are nurturing and positive and a - sign next to the people who are negative or toxic. Place a * next to the five people you spend the most time with. This activity takes just a few minutes, but serves as a wonderful index of the positive and negative influences in your life. When I first did this, I realized that I needed to take some action to end a friendship that wasn't serving me and even decrease the quantity of time I spent with a couple of family members. I couldn't eliminate these people from my life, but I was able to set some boundaries and replace our time together in way that shifted things to the positive side. I also became aware of the impact of my own self talk! I noticed I was more positive when I surrounded myself with more positive people. I felt so much better, had more energy and accomplished more things that made me even happier! Mistake #3: Focusing on your failures rather than your successes. "The problem is that most people focus on their failures rather than their successes. But the truth is that most people have many more successes than failures." - Jack Canfield Have you ever made a New Year's Resolution? Did you keep it? Did you reach the goal that you had in mind when you made the resolution? What to do instead! Don't make resolutions anymore ... set goals based on your life purpose. Do an annual review of your goals, focusing only on your accomplishments. I just completed my Year in Review for 2011 with my teacher and mentor Jack Canfield. Instead of starting 2012 feeling bad about what I haven't accomplished, I am all fired up over how much I have actually accomplished! My next step is to revise my goals and add some new ones for 2012! After that, I can focus on taking action towards my goals. It is amazing how having a clear life purpose, surrounding myself with positive people and focusing on successes can literally transform your life! By the way, you can access Jack's Year in Review 2011 by joining his Inner Circle Club for a free 10 day trial membership ... it's the best gift you'll ever give yourself! It is not something we have but rather something we do. It's how we see ourselves, value ourselves and feel about ourselves.
Self-esteem is a key to being successful in all aspects of life. Check out this article for 5 Ways to Increase Self-Esteem “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” ~ Buddha The Hour of Power is a highly effective tool I use daily, I encourage you to give it a try. It’s a full hour that is broken up into three 20-minute sessions:
Some of you may be thinking ... 20 minutes of exercise isn't enough! I usually do at least hour long workouts to get maximum benefit. If that's what you're doing, then great! However be sure to balance it with reading and meditation to maximize the effect on your personal power. Keep in mind that an accountability partner or a coach can help create new habits to support your growth and support your success. Feel free to call 603-452-7350 or email me at [email protected] to find out more about coaching and accountability partnerships. Giving thanks and expressing gratitude literally changes our attitude, our relationships and our lives!
I'm going to do this ... how about you? Thanks Giving Challenge by Success Magazine One of the best things about being in transition is the opportunity to revisit priorities, goals and vision. Recently, huge budget cuts in my program have forced me to reflect, adjust, realign and get ready for some big changes ... both professionally and personally. Although the cuts could be viewed as devastating, they can also be viewed as huge growth opportunites for all involved ... myself included. As Jack points out, "action" is the last six letters in the "Law of Attraction" . It's time to go pack for the beach I've heard it said that if you want to make a change, do it for thirty days and it's more likely to stick and become a new habit. My mentor, Jack Canfield is a strong advocate of the thirty day rule. On a subconscious level, this makes good sense. The subconscious mind loves repetition. Repetition helps to build new neuronal pathways in the brain. Depending on what the change is, it is even more powerful is to do it before you go to sleep to give your subconscious mind something positive to focus on while you sleep. So now all I have to do is decide what I'm going to do for the next thirty days. Perhaps no more white sugar? Perhaps start a yoga practice? Perhaps commit to visualization with my mind movies? Perhaps incorporate Jack's Rule of Five Action Plan every day for the next thirty days to get over the end of school year lull and get going on my summer goals. For an explanation of the Rule of Five view this short video clip at: http://youtu.be/pG7q05cjpY4 Perhaps committing some of my potential 30 day challenges to writing here will prompt the beginning of more than one change. However, in the interest of accountability, I'm going to commit to the Daily Rule of Five Action Plan in order to finally get some momentum behind that big goal I've been procrastinating on for the past few months. If you need some inspiration for your own thirty day commitment, check out this video: One of the most powerful Success Principles I learned from my mentor, Jack Canfiled is the power of asking.
The first thing Jack taught me was to be clear what I'm asking for. To know exactly what I want. The next thing was to execute my ask as if I was going to get it. I'm in the process of developing a new business. I know what I want. I know people who are already doing what I want to do ... and doing it successfully. I'm pretty independent and could very easily go it on my own. In addition, to being independent, I had an old, limiting belief that showed up as fear of rejection. Jack helped me get over that fear of rejection, which I subsequently discovered was connected to a fear of success.. There are so many layers to transformation! At Breakthrough to Success, he stood on the stage and asked us all to sing after him, really loud, "Oh what the heck ... go for it anyway!" He followed this up with SWSWSWSW. I've coined the phrase with my teens, SW to the 4th! It stands for: Some Will ~ Some Won't ~ So What ~Someone's Waiting Now, I'm asking for lots of things. For help, for contacts, for opinions, for ideas, for feedback, for business. I don't take "no's" personally. I just keep asking. It doesn't stop there. Now I teach it in all my classes, with both kids and adults. Be clear what you want ... and ask, ask, ask. SWSWSWSW ... oh what the heck ... go for it anyway! Read more about asking in Jack's article at http://www.jackcanfield.com/blog/item/1018-good-things-come-to-those-who-ask.html To learn more about the 7 days that transformed my life check out BTS at: |
