Transition On Purpose: 6 Week Pathway to Success

"There is only one success ... to be able to spend your life in your own way."
~Christopher Morley

Over the past couple of months, I've had numerous conversations with older teens and young adults who are unsure about the direction their life is taking. Some are confused, uncertain and stressed about their direction as they are looking ahead to high school graduation with no clear idea of what's next. Some.are heading into their second. third year and even fourth year of college ... studying in a field that no longer excites or even interests them, but uncertain about what they'd rather be doing instead.

In every single one of these conversations, parents are mentioned; not wanting to disappoint their parents, not wanting their parents to butt in, not interested in the career their parents want for them or feeling guilty about how much money their parents are spending on college when they have no clear idea of what they're doing or what direction to take.

Is your teen or young adult trying to find purpose in life? Are they (or are you) feeling anxious, afraid or uncertain about their future? Are you experiencing a lack of confidence about the choices they are making about their future? Are they resistant to your help?  Perhaps experiencing physical manifestations of their psychological stress?

Coaching can be so helpful in all of these situations. Coaching helps teens and young adults connect with their passion and purpose, learn how to set goals, develop action plans and provides accountability to help them stay focused and on track. Coaching provides tips, tools and techniques to deal with fear and stress while improving skills, confidence and self esteem ... a recipe for success!

In the Training Room With Jack Canfield: Pearls from Day 1

2/8/2012

Comments

I am so grateful for the opportunity to be spending the next several days in San Diego training with my teacher, mentor and coach, Jack Canfield. I connected with Jack's Success Principles about three years ago and spent the better part of the summer kayaking around Crystal Lake taking his 30 day audio course (which I HIGHLY recommend). One of the teens I work with helped me download to course onto an MP3 player so I was able to take it wherever I went. My life hasn't been the same since!

Six months later I had manifested tuition and travel expenses to cover my attendance at Jack's Breakthrough to Success live event and a year and a half later I am enrolled in his year long mentorship program. It's been an amazing, wild and magical ride! I am so grateful to be having this experience and even more excited to be sharing it with you and the teens and young adults I work with!

Jack's Success Principles are a like having the combination to a lock. Once you know the combination, the door to endless possiblities and magical things begin to happen.

My dream is to further expand my knowledge of the principles and work with those in transition to support and inspire them to live their lives in line with their passion and unique purpose while creating goals and action plans to support success and ultimately live the life of their dreams.

Here are a couple of pearls from our Day 1 session with Jack:

Pearl Number 1

For a quick and dependable way to increase joy in your life remember that like attracts like and try this.

Make a list of 25 things that bring you joy and post it somewhere you'll see it every day. Do at least one of these things every day. Repeat for 40 days to solidify the habit of vibrating with joy.

Pearl Number 2

Success Principle #1: Take 100% Responsibility for Your Life With the Formula Event + Response = Outcome

Jack suggests that when things happen in life that we're not quite clear about, ask the question "What is the opportunity that this is?" He learned this from his teacher and mentor W. Clement Stone.

It's a great way to help us choose our response to the events in our lives intentionally, with the goal being to focus on the lessons before us and create better outcomes.

The Alchemist, a Dream and a Dose of Inspiration

2/1/2012

Comments

I woke up this morning in the middle of a dream of a boy on a journey through the desert searching for treasure and seeing, way off in the distance, an oasis and a chest of gold. Then I flashed to a scene in my future life that reflects the dream I am working towards fulfilling.

As my head cleared from the dream fog, I recognized the scene being from one of my favorite books, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. I read it a long time ago, at a time when I was in a tough place. I was newly divorced, unhappy with my job and unsure of my next step. I certainly knew how to make a living, however I had no clue how to live the life I knew in my heart I was born to live.

The Alchemist provided me with permission to dream, to pay attention to the insights I had so long ignored and to honor the synchronicities that had gone unnoticed. The Alchemist helped me put my journey, both the good parts and the not so good parts, into perspective and helped me to look deep within my heart and my soul to uncover my dream, create my vision and begin taking action steps toward achieving it.

Today, as I prepare to take the next big step towards fulfilling my most recent dream, I am inspired to share some insights from The Alchemist that were prompted by my dream last night. Perhaps it will help to fuel your dream, your purpose and your passion and help you to know the action steps you that are yours to take!

“Why do we have to listen to our hearts?" the boy asked.
"Because, wherever your heart is, that is where you will find your treasure.”
~Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

“Don't allow your mind to tell your heart what to do. The mind gives up easily”
~Paulo Coelho

“No one lights a lamp in order to hide it behind the door. The purpose of light is to create more light, to open people's eyes, to reveal the marvels around.”
~Paulo Coelho

" ...and the world we live in will be either better or worse, depending on whether we become better or worse. And that's where the power of love comes in. Because when we love, we always strive to become better than we are. And everything around us becomes better too.”
~Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

“I am surprised how difficult for people is to say "I love you". They only say the three magic words when they are sure they will hear "I love you too" back. C'mon! Spread the energy of love without expecting anything … it is the prerogative of the brave”
~Paulo Coelho

“Go and get your things,' he said. 'Dreams mean work.”
~Paulo Coelho

Today I have to spend some time clearing up loose ends and get packing for my trip to San Diego for my next session with Jack Canfield. There is so much to do in a limited time, but I will "chunk it down", as Jack says, into bite size pieces and "ask, ask, ask" for help when I need it.

Dreams are worth the work to make them come true. What action will you take today to get closer to making your dreams come true? Wishing you all present moments, pleasant days, lots of love and dreams come true!

♥ Trisha
