Visualizing is one of the most powerful ways to achieve our goals and fulfill our dreams. Engaging the subconscious mind in the visualization process is a very powerful approach to further advance our goals toward achievement.
My interest in this concept was piqued in the movie, The Secret. Over the past couple of years I have become fascinated with the subconscious mind and have become an avid student. Click here to read John Assaraf's article on understanding the brain and why visualization works. The following story is an example of one huge thing I have manifested using the power of my subconscious mind along with visualization. I could share accounts of many, many smaller tjhings I manifest on a daily basis, but this story is one of my most profound ... and it is literally changing my life! In August, 2010, while sitting in the audience on the last day of the 7 day Breakthrough to Success event with transformational leader Jack Canfield, I set a goal to become one of his trainers. I was inspired by his Success Principles and had witnessed, first hand, major transformation as the result of incorporating the them into my life. I love teaching, coaching and inspiring others to be the best they can be and especially love working with teens and young adults. I knew in my heart of hearts that the Success Principles was an amazing system that needed to be brought to teen and young adult audiences across the country and I knew that I wanted to be instrumental in doing just that. In order to accomplish this goal, I would need to complete Jack's Train the Trainer program. This would require me to come up with the tuition, travel and related expenses (approximately $25,000) as well as apply and be accepted into the program. My financial status was pretty bleak due to budget cuts and having just started a new business, but I didn't let that get in my way! On Jack's suggestion, I have become an inverse paranoid. I believe that the Universe is always conspiring on my behalf according to what my subconscious mind is putting out there. I have come to believe that anything is possible and the only thing standing in my way is old limiting beliefs that serve as blocks. I decided that nothing was going to stop me from reaching this goal. It felt important and I knew way down deep that it was connected to my life purpose. I incorporated visualization into my daily life. I developed a Mind Movie which is a fun way to add pictures, affirmations and emotion to your vision. I watched my movie twice a day, in the morning when I woke up and at night just before falling asleep. As I watched the two and a half minute movie, I allowed myself to experience the end result as if it were already completed. I felt the feelings of being on stage in front of the audience, microphone in hand, teaching what I had learned from one of the best teachers, coaches and mentors in the world of personal and professional transformation. I booked the training dates in my calendar, as if I had already been accepted into the program. I filled out the application so it would be ready to send out when I had raised the money. I started to develop a concept proposal for the curriculum I had envisioned and put together a group of teens, young adults and professionals to help me accomplish my goal. I set up a file for the project and develooped an implementation timeline. I refused to let my less than stable financial status have any impact on my "knowing" that I would be in Jack's 2012 Train the Trainer class and that my project would come to fruition. I had no idea how it would all come together. I was just barely paying my bills ... but I kept visualizing and feeling and acting as if the goal were already completed. I even started a fundraising effort and succeeded in raising about $5000 which provided me with some seed money so I could begin to develop my plan to bring this work to teens and young adults. I began to pilot it locally in the classrooms I was already teaching in. A year later, in August 2011, a friend contacted me and asked me to take a road trip with her. She had just lost both her parents and needed a mental health break and change of scenery. She wanted to come to New England, travel up the coast of Maine, spend a few days in Acadia National Park and eat as much lobster as possible along the way. Acadia is one of my favorite places on the planet, and although money was tight, something made me say yes to the trip. Call it inspired action, but I "knew" I needed to go ... and so I did. We had a great time. She got what she needed, as did I. Acadia is always good for the soul! At breakfast one day, my friend told me that there was something she wanted to tell me. I listened as she told me that she had inherited a significant amount of money from her parents. She told me that she had been following my work with teens, that she knew Jack's work and had heard me share my vision of bringing his work to teens across the country. Over coffee and Belgian waffles, told me that she wanted to help me realize my vision. She then gifted me the entire cost of the year long program! I was in shock and couldn't speak through my tears of gratitude. I accepted the gift immediately. When I got home, I emailed the Train the Trainer application I had already completed several months before. Two days later I received a call from the Canfield Training Group to set up an admission interview and I was accepted into the program. I start the training in February 2012. Ironically (or not) Jack has publicly announced his interest in bringing his Success Principles work to teens. Although it is not quite clear yet exactly how, I have no doubt we will be working together toward this end in some capacity. I am totally convinced that the subconscious mind is incredibly powerful in creating the life of our dreams. I am now in the process of exploring the power of the heart combined with the subconscious mind using tools and techniques from the Heart Math Institute. The combination of the two is profoundly powerful! More on that later ... Coaching Yourself to Success in 2012: 3 Mistakes to Avoid on the Road to Living Your Purpose12/14/2011 ![]() _Mistake #1: Not being clear about exactly what you want. "The indispensible first step to getting what you want out of life is this: decide what you want." ~Ben Stein What to do instead! How about starting 2012 by clarifying your life purpose? Click here for The Life Purpose Exercise to help you get clear about your purpose. Once you have it, all the goals you create, decisions that you make and actions that you take will ideally reflect your purpose for being on the planet! Mistake #2: Surrounding yourself with negativity. "You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." ~Jim Rohn What to do instead! Try this to help you increase your awareness of the people in your life. List those people you spend the most time with ... family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, people in your civic organizations, etc. Once you have your list, place a + sign next to the the people who are nurturing and positive and a - sign next to the people who are negative or toxic. Place a * next to the five people you spend the most time with. This activity takes just a few minutes, but serves as a wonderful index of the positive and negative influences in your life. When I first did this, I realized that I needed to take some action to end a friendship that wasn't serving me and even decrease the quantity of time I spent with a couple of family members. I couldn't eliminate these people from my life, but I was able to set some boundaries and replace our time together in way that shifted things to the positive side. I also became aware of the impact of my own self talk! I noticed I was more positive when I surrounded myself with more positive people. I felt so much better, had more energy and accomplished more things that made me even happier! Mistake #3: Focusing on your failures rather than your successes. "The problem is that most people focus on their failures rather than their successes. But the truth is that most people have many more successes than failures." - Jack Canfield Have you ever made a New Year's Resolution? Did you keep it? Did you reach the goal that you had in mind when you made the resolution? What to do instead! Don't make resolutions anymore ... set goals based on your life purpose. Do an annual review of your goals, focusing only on your accomplishments. I just completed my Year in Review for 2011 with my teacher and mentor Jack Canfield. Instead of starting 2012 feeling bad about what I haven't accomplished, I am all fired up over how much I have actually accomplished! My next step is to revise my goals and add some new ones for 2012! After that, I can focus on taking action towards my goals. It is amazing how having a clear life purpose, surrounding myself with positive people and focusing on successes can literally transform your life! Facilitate Change by Empowering Others by Jack Canfield The first Success Principle I teach is to take 100 percent responsibility for your life. Never has this been more needed than now. Current societal challenges – such as the recession, decimation of the stock and real estate markets and high unemployment rate – have left many American living in a state of resignation and despair. It is time to turn this situation around. Each of us has the power within us to create the life we want, the life we dream about, the life we were born to live. Each of us deserves to fulfill our full potential and manifest our true destiny. It is our birthright, but it must be claimed. It must be earned through hard work, and part of that work is first learning and then living by the time-tested and ageless principles that are guaranteed to bring about our desired results. And you, even as a sole individual, can have a tremendous impact. Pass Along the Lessons Most of us did not learn the principles of success in school or at church. Only a few of us learned them at home. Instead, the principles of success have been passed down by mentors, teachers, coaches and more recently in books, seminars and audio programs. As a student of success, you have much wisdom to offer the people in your life. The greatest gift you can give anyone is a gift of empowerment and love. What could be more loving than helping someone you care about get free from their limiting beliefs and ignorance about success, and empowering them to create the life that they truly want from the depths of their soul? Imagine the Possibilities What if everyone in your family gave up complaining, took full responsibility for themselves and their lives and started creating the life of their dreams? What if every one in your company practiced these principles? What if every member of your softball team approached life this way? What if every high school student in America knew these principles and put them into practice in class, on the playing field and in their social life? What if every man and woman in prison was to learn these valuable principles before they were released back into society? It would be a very different world. Imagine a world where everyone would take 100% responsibility for their lives and the results they produce or don’t produce. Where everybody would be clear about their visions and their goals. Where nobody would fall victim to the criticism and abuse of others. Where everyone would persevere in the face of hardship and challenge. Men and women would band together in teams to support each other to become all that they could be. People would ask for what they need and want and feel free to say no the requests of others when it is not right for them to respond with a yes. People would stop whining and complaining and get on with creating the life that they want. People would tell the truth and listen to each other with compassion because they know that peace, joy and prosperity would flourish if they did. In short, the world would work! Your Contribution Matters The greatest contribution you can make to the world is to grow in self-awareness, self-realization and the power to manifest your own heartfelt dreams and desires. This is why Mahatma Gandhi advised, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” As you shift, the people around you will notice and be inspired to model your actions. And as they shift, you’ll find that your little world becomes more of the place you dream it to be, full of support, peace and love. The next greatest thing you can do is to actively facilitate the growth of others. But they are not the only ones who will benefit by your investment of time and energy in taking on the role of teacher. Passing along your wisdom forces you to clarify your ideas, confront inconsistencies in your own thinking and more closely walk your talk. But most importantly, it requires you to read, study and speak the information over and over again. The resulting repetition reinforces your own learning. And here’s another major benefit—the more you help other people succeed in life, the more they will want to help you succeed. If you’ve ever wondered why people who teach success strategies are so successful, here’s the answer: Because they have helped so many people get what they want, those they have helped naturally want to return the favor. The same will be true for you. Help Create a Movement I envision a world where everyone is inspired to believe in themselves and their abilities and is empowered to reach their full potential and realize all their dreams. I want the Success Principles taught in every school and university, and practiced in every small business and large corporation. I’d love to have you join me in spreading the word and changing the world. If you feel inspired to share the Success Principles with your clients, students, employees and family, I’ve created a study guide that you can use to lead a free Success Principles study group. Please download a copy here. If you’re ready to help us bring the principles to the world in a more structured way, consider joining my Train the Trainer program. Ideal for teachers, speakers, trainers, coaches, consultants, managers, business owners and other leaders, Train the Trainer gives you the chance to work personally with me for a full year. Here's Jack Canfield's perspective, along with Barbara Marx Hubbard's five questions that may help you discover your unique purpose during this transformational time. Do you remember the original plan? Do you have any memory of having volunteered to come to Earth at this particular time? The third question is, if so, do you remember your contract? What do you do best in the world that only YOU can do? What are you supposed to do now, and what tools and resources do you need to do it? Through some amazing and life changing physical, emotional and metaphysical experiences and alot of focus on overcoming fear in my life, I have been able to answer these five questions and am now living on purpose. Let me know if there's anything I can do to support your transition to living on purpose! Part 3 in the Money, Money, Money reveals Brian Tracey's greatest investment tip for creating financial abundance as well as personal fulfillment.
I've been doing this for a little over a year and am beginning to see amazing results. I am clear about my purpose, doing work I love and can feel my mind set changing. I'm on my way to spend a week with Jack Canfield in San Diego to solidify the shift and connect with potential partners on a couple of new projects. I am in awe at how my investment is paying off! If you're ready to explore possibilities and are ready for a shift, I have a few spots left for sample coaching sessions the week I get back. Drop me an email at trisharx@aol.com or call me at 603-452-7350 to set up your session today! As I've shared, I've recently been accepted to participate in an amazing training and mentorship program with Jack Canfield, best-selling author, speaker and success coach.
I set this as a goal a year ago, not having any idea how I would achieve it, I visualized my participation and acted as if I was well on my way to working with Jack as a mentor and teacher. And then, in a way that only the Universe could have orchestrated, my goal became a reality! I was ecstatic when I got the news, but after a couple of days, the high was followed by a very strange period of neutral. No excitement ... just neutral. I've become very adept at paying attention to the highs, the lows and the neutrals. I am grateful that the lows are few and far between now. The neutrals usually have a message hidden for me. Sometimes in the neutral place, the messages are more subtle, less apparent and harder to identify. I've learned to be patient and trust the process. I couldn't quite put my finger on it until I read Jack's blog this month, FOCUS to Overcome Fear. Ahhhhh ... fear. I've discovered that fear is at the base of every low and often hidden in the neutral places as well. I'm grateful for getting exactly what I need when I need it ... a great article to provide me with insight and give me tools to help shift fear to focus ... and get me on track with my paperwork and travel plans and all that needs to be done to get ready to meet up with Jack in November! FOCUS to Overcome Fear It's official ... I've been accepted into a pretty exclusive mentorship and training program with author and transformational leader, Jack Canfield!
I set this as part of my 5 year plan a year ago. I had with no clear idea, given my life circumstances, how it would be possible. But instead of focusing on doubt, I trusted that my passion, purpose, vision and taking action would fuel the Universe to figure it out. And it did ... in ways that are beyond my comprehension! Today, in just a year of applying Jack's Success Principles to my life and implementing his Daily Disciplines for Effortless Success, my goal is now a reality. I first met Jack 30 years ago when I heard him deliver a talk at my first professional development conference. That day I purchased his very first cassette tape series called Self Esteem and Peak Performance, which helped me immensely in my early career days. Several years ago, I was connected to work again during a session with a teen who cited Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul as being the one thing that helped her get through a very difficult period in her life. I was connected once again to Jack's work in a synchronistic sort of way. I was kayaking with a friend of mine who told me about a book she was reading and suggested I check it out. I joked with her and told her that I was having trouble adjusting to my 50 year old eyes and didn't enjoy reading much because it forced me to admit that my eyesight was changing. She quickly suggested audio books and gave me a website to visit. Seriously, I was planning to take care of the vision thing, but was also thinking that listening to audio books would be a very cool thing to do while kayaking. The first book that popped up on the audible.com website was The Success Principles: How to Get From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. I was going through transition without clear direction and the book was being offered for free with a membership, so I downloaded it onto my computer and started listening to it. An hour later, it was bright and sunny outside and I had the whole day off to spend on the lake. I went next door and consulted with my teenage neighbor .... my official technology consultant ... and checked into what MP3 player would be best for me to download the Success Principles so I could listen as I kayaked. In just a few minutes, I was off to town and within an hour I was back home syncing the book onto my new MP3 player while I got my kayaking gear ready. Three months later, despite the fact that I didn't have the resources to support tuition, travel, etc., and as a result of an amazing sequence of manifesting magic, I was live at Breakthrough to Success, Jack's 7 day transformational workshop. I've been living, teaching and coaching around his success principles ever since. Now, beginning in November, I will be working with Jack personally to help me get better at what I do and to support him in bringing his work to teens and adults in a much bigger way! There's really something to be said about starting your days with gratitude, following your heart, being clear about what you want, taking consistent action toward your vision, harnessing the power of the subconscious mind and believing that miracles really do happen. I love this article by Jack Canfield titled Are You Living Your Passion?
Do yourself a favor and take some time to do the two exercises Jack suggests. I was fortunate to have done them in a live training with Jack awhile back. The exercises are a great way to get connected to your passion and life purpose. The process is also the perfect place to start developing your goals and action plans that are in line with your purpose and will lead to you to joy and fulfillment! I am grateful for the experience of going through the process with Jack and having the opportunity to watch him living his own passion and purpose while inspiring others to do the same. And I am grateful for my Mastermind Group, my coach and my support system who all help me continue taking action along my purposeful path! The path is not always clear, what's before me or inside of me doesn't always make sense and I'm not always certain about what's next, however being clear about my passion and purpose for being on the planet always provides insight and direction that leades me to the next right step! http://www.jackcanfield.com/blog/item/1044-are-you-living-your-passion.html |
