Enjoy a detour!
Many times we get so focused on our “destination” that we don’t take time to enjoy all of the things we encounter on the journey. Whether it is a road trip or focusing on reaching a goal, remain aware and open to all of the wonderful things that will cross your path. You may find that the detour is more spectacular than the destination! (Source: Positivity Nation) I've been writing a book. Sometimes I get inspired, begin writing and get really focused for really long periods of time. I forget to take a break. At the end of my focus time I feel tired and hungry and out of balance. Lately I've been trying to incorporate something called the "Power Hour" into my work day. The Power Hour is 50 minutes of uninterrupted focus no phone, no email, no distractions) with a 10 minute break. Ideally the 10 minute break is doing something to energize us. My favorite is going outside for some fresh air.Perhaps having a healthy snack, a cup of tea or a bit of physical activity. Incorporating a few Power Hours into my day makes me much more productive, more balanced and allows more time for detours that further energize me and spark my creativity. Yesterday I found this 10 minute video posted on Facebook by The Kindness Center that will be another way for me to take a detour to get to gratitude and energize me and my work. Enjoy! It's an amazing day in NH! The sun is shining, the sky is clear and the loons are back on the lake! Here's the view from where I'm sitting, The green from where I sit has not quite caught up with the picture ... a couple more weeks ... but you get the idea!
I have to get out there and welcome the loons ... but first I'd like to share some exciting news! The Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Kindness Weekend on Memorial Day Weekend. I'm on the planning committee and I must say that this is the most amazing, kind, positive group of people I've ever had the pleasure of working with! Michael Chase, the Kindness Guy, will be joining us to help us celebrate what we hope will be an annual event!
