Even though it doesn't always seem like your teens notice or care if you're around ... it matters to them that you're there. They may say you embarass or annoy them. They may even ignore you when you attend their sporting events and performances or they may not even acknowledge that you are there when they come home. Truth is, deep down they notice, they care and it matters!
Meet them where they are. on their terms and show interest in whatever they are doing while at the same time giving them space and distance to connect with their friends and own their own activities. And you might just need to develop a thick skin and remember not to take their need for independence personally.
As for rainbows ... more often than not, you are their rainbow and they are yours. rainbow time! And rainbow time is important!
