I coordinate a community outreach program using teen peer educators in school, clinic and community based settings to help educate kids about growth and development and get them connected to the resources they might need to support healthy decision making around sexuality, relationships, substance use, etc.
This week we are launching a 2011: A Year of Positive Action in collaboration with a local middle and high schools and inspired by Positivity Nation and The Kindness Center. As part of the launch, I charged them to come up with a quote that summarizes their feelings about the work we do and how it connects with the Positivity theme . I left them alone for about an hour and here's what they came up with:
"Together let's see how many people we can impact, empower, uplift and encourage to reach their fullest potential!" ~Anthony Robbins
Brilliant ... and heartwarming! Within a half hour, Deni, our resident teen artist, asked for permission to paint the quote on one of our office doors. Just beautiful! I'll post pictures once they teach me how to download pic files from my cell to my laptop :)
I am inspired by their creativity, motivated by their energy, amazed at the pride they take in their work and humbled by their committment to serve others.
